Purpose

This program assists non-state schools that are eligible for government funding to meet external infrastructure costs associated with capital works projects: specifically for passenger pick-up and set down areas at developing schools, headworks contribution costs, and other external infrastructure costs in connection with new developments – refer to the External Infrastructure Subsidy Scheme Guidelines (PDF, 412KB).

The program is administered on behalf of the Queensland Government by Capital Assistance Authorities (CAAs), one nominated by the Queensland Catholic Education Commission and one nominated by Independent Schools Queensland.

Expenditure guidelines

Each CAA receives and assesses applications for external infrastructure subsidies from affiliated schools, makes recommendations to the Minister for Education, makes payments to schools, monitors the progress of projects and carries out other functions as set out in the Education (Capital Assistance) Act 1993.

Funds are allocated to each CAA to assist with the costs associated with the administration of the program.

Refer to the External Infrastructure Subsidy Scheme Guidelines for details of expenditure guidelines and accountability requirements.
