Level of State Government recurrent grant funding
The Preparatory Year is included within the primary years of schooling. Eligible enrolments in the Preparatory Year attract the full primary school funding rate.
Preparatory enrolments are subject to the normal audit requirements of the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board.
Enrolment in preparatory year
As mandated under the Education (General Provisions) Regulation 2006, to be enrolled in the Preparatory Year of a non-state school a student must be:
- at least 5 years and 6 months on 31 December (i.e. a child who turns five on or before 30 June) in the proposed year of attendance at the school. However, the principal may enrol a student in the preparatory year if the child will be at least 5 years and 5 months on 31 December (i.e. a child who turns 5 on or before 31 July) in the proposed year of attendance at the school, if the principal deems the child to be ready for education in preparatory year, having regard to the child's attributes.
or
- transferring from an equivalent formal educational program in another state, territory or country, if the principal deems the child to be ready for education in preparatory year, having regard to the child's attributes.
