Purpose
To provide Teacher Relief Scheme (TRS) payments to urban state schools whose teachers participate in the Rural and Remote Teacher Experience Program.
The program gives current urban state school teachers the opportunity to live and work in a rural or remote community for a week. The program showcases the benefits of teaching in a rural or remote location, whilst promoting career opportunities.

State schools with teachers participating in the Rural and Remote Teacher Experience Program.
Allocation of funds
Funding is provided to urban state schools who have teachers undertaking an experience, based on the TRS rate multiplied by the number of school days the participant is absent from their urban school.
Payment details
Payment will occur following the urban teacher's participation in the program based on the monthly school payment schedule | Ongoing | 100% of number of school days absent from their urban school |

Recoupment policy
Payments may be recouped from schools if the program participant withdraws or returns to their base school earlier than planned, thereby not completing the full program.
How to apply
Schools do not need to apply for this funding. Entitlements are automatically paid to eligible schools.
