Eligibility

All state schools with specialist support staff are eligible.

Allocation of funds

Allocations are provided directly to schools hosting:

  • advisory visiting teachers
  • state school registered nurses
  • speech language pathologists
  • occupational therapists
  • physiotherapists.

Allocations are calculated on an annual basis:

  • $2,860 per annum pro rata for advisory visiting teachers, state school registered nurses, speech language pathologists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists.

Contingency funding is allocated to schools based on identified specific needs. Amounts are determined according to the particular requirements identified by the schools requesting assistance.

Regions are provided with an annual budget to deliver resources to specialist support staff.

Regional allocations are calculated on an annual basis according to the following criteria:

  • $2,860 per annum for each education program officer and student with disability teacher (excluding advisory visiting teachers and special school teachers)
  • $2,080 per annum for each primary learning support teacher (literacy and numeracy) and psychologist
  • $1,040 per annum for each guidance officer and senior guidance officer.

Regions then manage these funds as follows.

Metropolitan South region

Funds are used by the region to resource and deliver program outcomes (e.g. standard testing materials for guidance officers).

Additional funding may also be provided to schools for the bulk purchase of resources to support specialist staff.

Most funds are distributed to schools and locations hosting eligible specialist support staff. Some funds are held by the region to deliver program outcomes.
