Purpose
To assist schools with costs associated in replacing teachers who are engaged as mentors in the Become a Rural and Remote Teacher program.

Schools where a Become a Rural and Remote teacher mentor teacher is based.
Allocation of funds
One teacher will be engaged to provide mentoring to each scholarship recipient for the Become a Rural and Remote Teacher program. The program supports university students studying to become a teacher and have a commitment to working in Queensland’s rural and remote state schools at the completion of their study.
The mentoring teachers may change from term to term and, therefore, the schools that receive funding under this program may also change. The amount that the school receives for Teacher Relief Scheme (TRS) will be in line with the current TRS rate.
Payment details
Payments are made on submission of TRS claim forms and are made in line with the monthly scheduled TRS payments.

How to apply
Schools will need to apply to receive this TRS funding. Entitlement will not be automatically paid to the participating schools.
To apply, the school will need to complete a
Become a Rural and Remote Teacher TRS claim form and submit it to Human Resources each term by email to
scholarships@qed.qld.gov.au. The application requires principal approval before it will be considered.
