Purpose
The Australian Government is providing $50 million to upgrade schools—government, Catholic and independent. Funding will help schools to provide their students with improved learning facilities in a COVID-19 safe environment. This includes:
- targeted round—funding totalling $18 million for individual schools with an identified need for school upgrades as per 2022 election commitments
- open round—funding totalling $32 million to schools to help improve ventilation and air quality and make small scale improvements.
Duration of program
2023 – projects to be completed by 31 December 2023
Eligibility
State schools where the school applied for the:
- targeted funding for an associated project that must have been announced as an election commitment
- open round of funding.
Allocation of funds
Funding will be provided based on the application and selection process overseen by the Commonwealth Department of Education.
Payment details
Funds will be made to eligible state schools via School Appropriation and Payment Application (SAPA).
Recoupment policy
For state schools, as part of the program, all unexpended funds will be recouped via SAPA after the completion due date.
