Purpose

Duration of program

Ongoing

Eligibility

All state schools are eligible to express interest in the program.

Allocation of funds

Total budget for 2025-26 is $300,000.

It is expected that schools applying for the FNLP appropriation will be at different stages of co-designing and co-delivering with the Custodians of the languages.

In 2025-26, the department is offering 2 levels of funding:

  • $7,500 for those schools who are at the early stages of developing relationships with Language Custodians and are not yet teaching. These funds could be utilised for consultation with Language Custodians and initial research about the language program

  • $15,000 to those who already have established relationships, an ongoing advisory group and are beginning or already teaching language as a subject area. These funds could be utilised for curriculum development, employment of staff and professional development.
