To assist schools with the cost of specific or targeted professional development (PD).

Allocation of funds

These funds will cover miscellaneous low value and low volume PD undertaken by school staff where central or regional office has approved to meet these costs and where an existing appropriation program does not exist for the activity. The program also includes Teacher Relief Scheme (TRS) for teachers who attend the professional learning activity.

Funding must relate specifically to the PD activity and will depend on the individual PD undertaken and will be determined by the Department of Education (DoE) business unit that has approved to fund the activity.

Early career teacher professional learning s​upport funding

In 2025, schools with early career teachers (ECTs​​) will receive funding to support professional learning, determined by the following criteria:

• small schools (levels 1, 2 and 3) will receive the equivalent of 2 days TRS funding per ECT
• larger schools (l​evels 4 and above) will receive the equivalent of 1 day TRS funding per ECT​.

Payment details

Amounts and timing of payments will be determined by the relevant DoE business unit funding the activity.​
