State Education Week, Monday 27 October to Friday 31 October 2025, is an annual event that celebrates Queensland state schools and public education.
State Education Week is an opportunity to promote the great work being done in Queensland state schools to help each student fulfil their potential.
How to get involved
Schools can start forward planning for State Education Week by establishing a planning team. Some questions to consider include:
- How can we involve our students in our planning?
- Who else will need to be involved in our school event?
- staff—teachers and non-teachers
- P&C or Council, community members, elders, parents and carers
- business partners, local advocates and politicians
- past students (alumni)
- other schools in our cluster group
- What stories would we like to showcase during State Education Week?
- How will we celebrate?
- How will we involve and engage with our community?
- What communication channels will we use?
Get social
Queensland state schools can get involved by sharing stories about great students, staff members, alumni or projects that are making a difference in their school communities. Tell your stories using words, pictures or video on social media using #StateEdWeek and #GreatStoriesStartHere. Don't forget to tag the department so we can see your stories.
Looking for ideas? Do you have any alumni who continue to support current students with local apprenticeships, mentoring or scholarships? Are there students achieving awesome things with the support of your school? Do you have a staff member that goes above and beyond for their students or the wider school community? This week is about acknowledging all the ways state schools empower students to fulfil their potential.
Schools are encouraged to send their stories to
goodnews@qed.qld.gov.au for the chance to be featured on department social media and websites.
