The term 'mental health' refers to how a person thinks, feels, and acts when faced with life's situations. It is how people look at themselves, their lives, and the other people in their lives; evaluate the challenges and the problems; and explore choices. This includes handling stress, relating to other people, and making decisions.
Safeguarding our mental health is just as important as our physical health
Within the department, workplaces are encouraged to establish a Wellbeing Committee or to include staff wellbeing as a standing agenda item on the Workplace Health and Safety Committee's agenda. Individual workplaces are encouraged to develop staff wellbeing programs that meet the needs of staff and focus on improving wellbeing.
There are many resources available to staff to promote positive mental health and wellbeing. Search for ‘staff wellbeing’ on OnePortal for more information.
