Creating safe, connected communities starts with supporting parents

Parentline is a free, confidential, 7-day-a-week hotline serviced by trained counsellors, supporting Queensland parents and carers. Funded by the Queensland Government, Parentline includes the Parent Navigator service which provides a direct line from parents to the department to ensure no parent feels alone when facing challenges.

Whether it's navigating bullying, anxiety, big emotions or family dynamics—Parentline gives parents tools and confidence to better support their children.

Why Parentline matters

Parents are often the first to notice when something's not right—whether it's bullying, changes in mood or school refusal. But many feel unsure of what to do or where to turn.

  • Parenting doesn't come with a manual—Parentline offers calm, expert guidance from people who understand what young people need.
  • Early support makes a big difference—getting help early can prevent issues from escalating at home or school.
  • It's confidential, free and accessible—with extended hours, trained counsellors, webchat and online forums, support is there when families need it most.
  • Government-backed and community trusted—the Queensland Government funds Parentline because it works—strengthening families and supporting young people when it matters most.
  • Children thrive when parents feel supported—when parents have guidance, they're better equipped to support their child's wellbeing, learning and relationships.

More support for families: Expanded Parentline services

Parentline has expanded to give Queensland families stronger, more flexible support.

  • Extended hours—phone and live web-chat support from 6am to midnight, 7 days a week.
