The EFI empowers educators, departmental staff, school and system leaders to develop their professional expertise and career pathways with world-class professional learning.
EFI professional learning experiences are co-designed in collaboration with global leaders and academic partners to support our workforce at key career stages. EFI programs and targeted capability support are available for staff across Queensland, including regional, rural and remote locations. Opportunities are accessible to departmental staff via the statewide EFI Catalogue.

In addition to 12 regional locations providing support across the state, a state-of-the-art Professional Learning Centre opened in the Brisbane CBD in 2025 for staff to experience tailored professional learning.
Professional Learning Centre
The EFI Professional Learning Centre is a state-of-the-art facility designed to empower educators, cultivate expertise and advance capability. Featuring 6 dynamic, flexible spaces equipped with the latest audiovisual technology, the centre offers an exceptional environment for professional learning. Overlooking the beautiful Brisbane river, the EFI Professional Learning Centre sparks innovation and positions the Queensland Department of Education at the forefront of educational excellence.

Departmental staff are encouraged to view the EFI Catalogue to browse all courses, programs and other learning opportunities available.

Flagship programs—comprehensive professional learning experiences for staff targeting key career stages, from teacher aides and early career teachers to middle leaders, aspiring, beginning and experienced principals, and executive and system leaders.

Priority capability area programs—empowering educators to build teaching expertise across areas including but not limited to the Australian Curriculum, student behaviour, classroom management and digital capability.

School and corporate capability support—capability offerings tailored for context, experience, role and aspirations including teacher aides, non-teaching school support staff and corporate staff. Includes health and wellbeing programs that support safe and positive work environments.

Mandatory training—programs that all staff are required to undertake to understand the responsibilities of their role and work effectively within the department's ethical and legal frameworks.

Health and wellbeing programs—programs to support the mental and physical health and wellbeing of staff.

Other capability development and coaching opportunities—in addition to online and in-person learning opportunities, staff have equitable access to collaborative learning communities to share collective expertise and engage in individual self-paced modules or earn certifications.
