Overview

The Education Futures Institute (EFI) has partnered with the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) to co-design and deliver a tailored senior executive leadership development opportunity.

This flagship program brings our department's senior executive leaders together to build their collective leadership for system impact.

This investment underscores the department's commitment to empowering professional expertise and harnessing the strength of system leadership to deliver equity and excellence across Queensland state education.

Objectives

The flagship curriculum draws on contemporary leadership research and best practice, and interweaves educational, executive and senior public sector leadership development.

Through the program, leaders will:

  • engage with evidence-based leadership frameworks
  • challenge their underlying assumptions and beliefs
  • tackle strategic and organisational challenges
  • build practical strategies for success.

Audience and eligibility

Program participation is by invitation only for senior leaders from across the Queensland Department of Education.

Structure

Over a 9-month period, participants will engage in:

  • three 2-day workshops
  • executive and group coaching
  • collaborative leadership learning and network building
  • application of new skills.

Impact

The inaugural cohort of the program includes senior system leaders from central office and 8 education regions. The program is evaluated at key junctures and early findings suggest participants are:

  • experiencing a shift in perspective and new ways of thinking
  • building a greater understanding of their roles within the system
  • enhancing their practices and processes in alignment with their professional goals
  • embracing executive and group coaching opportunities to explore live workplace challenges and collaborate on strategic cross-system projects.
