​​​​​​​The Education Futures Institute (EFI) supports the capability of educators and education leaders in priority capability areas, aligned with workforce and system needs. This support contributes to a progressive, high-performing education system, aligned with the department's education strategy.

Australian Curriculum

Creating a shared understanding of effective teaching and learning aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Support is provided for Queensland state school staff tailored to diverse school contexts, experience and role.

Digital capability and virtual learning

Building and empowering a digitally capable and confident workforce for within and beyond the classroom. Ensures staff and students are future-ready to thrive within a constantly changing global community.

Health and wellbeing

Designed to support the health and wellbeing of our staff and students, the department offers a range of capability programs, resources and learning tools to empower staff to be the best they can be at work and at home.

Instructional leadership

Empowering school leaders to set clear academic goals, supporting high-quality instruction, using data to monitor progress, fostering a positive learning environment and engaging the school community to enhance student achievement.

Literacy and numeracy—reading and maths

Ensuring all students develop the foundational skills essential for learning and everyday life. Building a shared understanding of effective teaching of reading and mathematics through the Australian Curriculum.

Pedagogy and moderation

Unpacking and practising processes to support the development of a whole school approach to pedagogy, including the development of quality assessment.

Student behaviour and classroom management

Evidence-informed classroom management and student behaviour resources and information to reinforce a safe and supportive learning environment for students and staff.

Strategic school performance planning

Supporting school leaders with planning and implementation to improve their school's performance. Involves analysing current strengths and challenges, defining a clear vision, setting measurable objectives, allocating resources effectively, and regularly reviewing progress to ensure continuous improvement.
