Opportunity overview
The Department of Education International, in collaboration with the Consulate of Italy in Brisbane and the Italian community, is proud to deliver the StuditaliA Prize—an esteemed annual award that celebrates the exceptional achievements of Queensland students in Italian language learning.
Each year, outstanding Queensland Year 11 and Year 12 students are rewarded with a transformative 3-week immersive study tour to Italy. Recipients will have the unique opportunity to enhance their language skills, delve into Italy's rich historical and cultural heritage, and forge meaningful connections with local institutions and communities.
This prize not only recognises academic commitment, but also fosters intercultural understanding, helping to cultivate future ambassadors of Italian language and culture in an increasingly interconnected world.

- Return domestic flights to and from Brisbane
- Return international flights

- Dormitory accommodation (shared rooming arrangement)
- Tuition fees at The Convitto Nazionale Paolo Diacono

Eligibility
Eligibility requirements for students
- Be a full-time Year 11 or Year 12 student at a Queensland high school (state or non-state).
- Study Italian language as part of their schooling and intend to continue with the study and use of Italian language.
- Not have lived in Italy or attended an Italian education institution in Italy for more than 3 consecutive months in the last 2 years.
- Not speak Italian as a first language or be the primary language spoken at home.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia or a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia.
- Have (or be willing to obtain) a current and valid passport with at least 6 months' validity from the date of return to Australia.
Eligibility requirement for chaperones
- Be a fully registered teacher at a Queensland school (state or non-state) and a qualified Italian language teacher.
- Be permanently employed at the time of application and program delivery.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia or a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia.
- Have (or be willing to obtain) a current and valid passport with at least 6 months' validity from the date of return to Australia.

StuditaliA 30th anniversary
In 2024, the StuditaliA Prize proudly celebrated its 30th anniversary. To commemorate this special occasion, a commemorative video was prepared and presented at the award ceremony on 27 September 2024.
