Opportunity overview
The Tokyo Experience School is an exciting program that offers Queensland Year 10 students an exciting opportunity to be immersed in the rich culture of Japan, enhance their Japanese language skills and experience life in the vibrant city of Tokyo.
Participants will experience Japanese school life at a local Tokyo high school, where they will practice and develop their language skills through participation in a variety of classes and activities. Participants will also delve into Japan's rich historical and cultural heritage, visit significant sites and landmarks and engage in industry visits.
Through this program, participants not only improve their language skills and deepen their appreciation for Japan's rich heritage; they also cultivate the knowledge, skills and cultural awareness needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

Eligibility
Eligibility requirements for students
- Be a full-time Year 10 student at a rural or remote* Queensland state high school.
- Study Japanese language as part of their schooling and intend to continue with the study and use of Japanese language.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia or a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia.
- Have (or be willing to obtain) a current and valid passport with at least 6 months' validity from the date of return to Australia.
Eligibility requirement for chaperones
- Be a fully registered teacher at a rural or remote* Queensland state school.
- Be permanently employed at the time of application and program delivery.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia or a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia.
- Have (or be willing to obtain) a current and valid passport with at least 6 months' validity from the date of return to Australia.
*A rural or remote school is classified as being located in the outer regional, remote or very remote Australia zone. Find your zone using the Department of Education Schools Directory. Search for your school, click on the 'zones and districts' tab and then scroll to 'zone details—remoteness area'.
