Opportunity overview
High performing Year 10, Queensland state high school students will undertake a 14-day program, enjoying school life and visits to cultural and historical sites in Hiroshima and Kyoto, Japan. Students will improve their language proficiency and engage in industry visits where they will see real life examples of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) applications.
This program is targeting students who would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience another culture in an international environment.
Program details
- 14-day program.
- The program provides the opportunity to experience a different culture and school life, and improve Japanese language skills.
- 2 teacher chaperones will accompany the group for the duration of the program.
- Program itinerary and details will be provided in an online information session which the successful students and their families are required to attend.
- Teacher chaperones will be required to assist with the program planning, selection of students and pre/post-departure tasks.
- Students to be nominated by the current Japanese language and STEM teachers with a maximum of 2 student nominations per school.
- Students must have parent/guardian consent to submit an application.
