Purpose

To assist schools with the replacement of approved classroom teachers for the Restart Teaching program, where the classroom teacher is an approved facilitator for this program.

To support a beginning teacher’s induction to the teaching profession, additional non-contact is being provided to eligible teachers from the beginning of 2021.

This additional non-contact time will assist beginning teachers with the development of their teaching skills and their transition from graduate level to proficient level with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

All permanent and temporary classroom teachers in their first 12 months of teaching will be provided additional non-contact time per week in addition to their entitlement to non-contact time as prescribed in the Teachers’ Award and Certified Agreement.

From 2021, the non-contact time to be provided to beginning teachers is set out below.
