The Queensland Government is committed to providing state schools with greater autonomy in decision-making and increased capacity to work in new ways to maximise learning outcomes.
Since 2013,
250 schools have commenced as independent public schools in Queensland.
Independent public schools (IPS) operate in line with the
IPS Policy Framework (PDF, 1.2MB). The Policy Framework sets out the key features of the IPS initiative in Queensland and the system supports that enable it to deliver to its full potential.
Evaluation of the Independent Public Schools Initiative Report
The
Evaluation of the Independent Public Schools Initiative Report 2018 (PDF, 1.4MB) proposes seven recommendations for providing all Queensland state schools greater autonomy to make local decisions about how best to meet the needs of their students.
The report also identifies strengths and areas for improvement across the state schooling system.
The first phase of consultation occurred in Term 4 2018. Further opportunities for consultation will be available in 2019.
