Due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19, some Global Opportunities programs may be affected. Further information to be provided as 2022/2023 programs are confirmed.

Please contact global.opportunities@qed.qld.gov.au for further information.

The Global Opportunities (GO) team within the Department of Education International (DEi) offers a range of immersive global programs and opportunities for students, teachers, education leaders and Queensland schools each year, delivered online, domestically or via outbound and inbound immersion.

GO programs:

  • provide an opportunity for students to explore new cultural and pedagogical environments and become active global citizens through developing their global competence
  • enable educators to enhance their cultural understandings and skills to communicate across cultures, to develop globally competent students and support the internationalisation of schools.

Access the tiles below to explore our programs and school-based opportunities.

For students

Global Opportunities offers students a range of immersion programs and prizes.

These opportunities enable students to explore new cultures, experience new learning settings, advance language skills, enhance their knowledge of Australian and world history, and develop qualities to become active global citizens.

For teachers and schools

Global Opportunities offers schools, teachers and educational leaders global immersion experiences through professional development programs or as a chaperone of a student group.

These opportunities enable teachers and educational leaders to enhance their intercultural awareness, language proficiency and knowledge of Australian and world history to make a positive difference to the quality of learning and teaching in Queensland schools.

Note: Where programs involve a selection process, all selections are final and are not subject to appeal. Selections may be made by DE International to align with its Strategic Plan 2019–2024 and to ensure the benefits of these programs are distributed throughout Queensland.
