State schools receive departmental funding to operate, maximise student outcomes and realise locally determined improvement agendas aligned with the
State Schools Improvement Strategy. From July 2021, schools will implement 2 new policy instruments for the continuous evaluation and improvement of school performance. A new
School performance policy articulates the requirements for school performance planning, monitoring, reviewing and reporting processes. This includes the effective, efficient and appropriate allocation of human, physical and financial resources as part of the school’s budgeting process.
School performance procedure assists schools to enact the
School performance policy, providing step-by-step processes and detailing the responsibilities for individuals and teams.
State schools, non-state schools, parents and students, and other organisations servicing the needs of students are eligible to apply for a grant.
The department also offers a range of scholarships to school leavers, post-graduate students, departmental employees and employees in the early childhood education and care sector. Some scholarships are also available to post-school applicants. From time to time, additional scholarships may be offered.
