Opportunity overview
The Osaka World Expo Ambassador Program is an exciting opportunity for Queensland state school students in Years 11 and 12, along with teachers experienced in delivering Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) subjects. Hosted by the Osaka Prefectural Board of Education, the program brings together participants from global partner regions to discuss education and key social issues shaping the future.
As part of Expo 2025 in Osaka, students will collaborate with peers worldwide to explore solutions to global challenges, while teachers will develop leadership skills in delivering STEAM curriculum in an international setting. Participants will also visit the Expo 2025 site and explore Osaka, deepening their understanding of Japan’s innovation, culture and global engagement. The program aims to build cross-cultural connections, critical thinking and leadership, preparing students and teachers for a global future.

Eligibility requirements for students
Note: This opportunity also involves collaborating with teacher chaperones and assisting with the delivery of 2 STEAM seminars to high school students in Japan.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia or a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia.
- Be a full-time Year 11 or 12 student at a Queensland state high school.
- Study a range of STEAM subjects with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.
- Have an interest in Japanese language and culture.
- Demonstrate leadership through school, extracurricular or community activities, showing initiative, teamwork and responsibility.

Eligibility requirement for chaperones
Note: This opportunity also includes a student chaperone component for 2 participating students, along with a professional development aspect focused on delivering 2 STEAM seminars to high school students in Japan.
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident of Australia or a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia.
- Be a fully registered teacher at a Queensland state school with a minimum of 5 years teaching experience—in particular with Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics subjects.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering engaging lessons to large cohorts, especially for audiences with English as a second language.
- Have an interest in Japanese language and culture.
