Initial approval

Any not-for-profit organisation seeking approval to offer an ISSE program in Queensland must submit an application for approval – not-for-profit organisations form prior promoting or making an offer to any Queensland student to undertake an ISSE program; this includes organisations registered only in another jurisdiction.

Re-approval

Registered student exchange organisations will be invited to apply for re-approval of their registration in the calendar year their current registration expires. Upon invitation, the registered student exchange organisation will be invited to submit an application for approval – not-for-profit organisations form.

The re-approval process will include a comprehensive review of the organisations policies, procedures and support documents, such as the inbound and outbound student handbook. Where the organisation has notified of either inbound or outbound students during the preceding 2 years, the review will also involve a review of student files to confirm the implementation of business process.

An evidence guide has been developed to provides direction to student exchange organisations applying for either initial approval or re-approval as a student exchange organisation (SEO) in Queensland.

Approval and re-approval: School offering exchange under a sister-school arrangement

Initial approval

Any school seeking approval to offer an ISSE program under a sister-school arrangement must submit an application for approval—schools form.

Re-approval

Schools will be invited to apply for re-approval of their registration in the calendar year their current registration expires.  Upon invitation, the registered student exchange organisation will be invited to submit an application for approval—schools form.

A notification timeline​ has been developed to provide direction to student exchange organisations in relation to timelines for inbound and outbound student programs which registered organisations must adhere to.

Registered student exchange organisations (including schools approved to offer an exchange program under a sister-school arrangement) must use the following forms.

These forms apply to international student coming to Australia on a student exchange program.

Outbound student forms

These forms apply to Australian students leaving Australia on a student exchange program.
