The Queensland Government has committed a further $4 million from 2017 to 2020 to improve children’s transition to school. The Step up into education initiative will assist schools to develop and implement transition programs that:

  • build ongoing relationships between Early Childhood Education and Care (ECCE) service providers, educators and parents and;
  • determine strategies and initiatives to meet the needs of children and families.

An additional 21 state schools in areas of disadvantage have been selected to develop and implement evidence-based strategies that enhance children’s transition to school in line with the principles, action areas and outcomes of the Supporting successful transitions: School-decision making tool and the School improvement model of Every student succeeding–State Schools Strategy 2018-2022 (PDF, 401 KB).
