This service will support access and participation in schooling and improve educational outcomes for students with disability through the provision of selected equipment to support learning.

This is a statewide and regionalised service, providing a range of specialised equipment available for trial by students with disabilities at school. Access to this service assists schools to plan for educational adjustments and to trial equipment to ensure suitability prior to purchase.

Allocation of funds

An annual fixed budget of $150,000 is distributed to regional offices and host schools for Statewide Equipment Trial Services.

Allocations are determined by a sliding scale calculated by relative size of student population in each region. Regional offices may distribute funds to a host school or administer the loan scheme regionally.

In October 2021, a one-off additional payment of $26,075 was approved by the Executive Management Board (EMB) for Mt Ommaney Special School. The request is for additional resources for the state-wide loans service that are highly specialised. Some of these items are replacement items for older pieces of equipment. Equipment includes: Electric change table-junior, Oxford advance hoist, Quickie 2 wheelchair, Rifton activity chair – Medium hi lo base, Quickie Iris Tilt in space wheelchair.
