The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award

​​Purpose

For this appropriation there are two programs:

  1. Subsidised adventurous journeys

    To assist specific Environmental Education Centres (EEC) to deliver adventurous journeys as part of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award program.

  2. Staff support funding

    To provide additional paid hours for Award Leaders within State Schools delivering The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, to increase the number of young people registering and completing the Award within their school.

Duration of program

Subsidised adventurous journeys: 2015–ongoing

Staff support funding: 2022-2024

Eligibility

Subsided adventurous journeys:
Barambah, Camp Fairbairn, Moreton Bay, Numinbah Valley and Stanley River EEC and Columboola EEC have expressed interest in continuing to participate in this program.​

Staff support funding:
State Schools registered to deliver The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.​

Allocation of funds

Subsided adventurous journeys:
Funds are allocated from a budget of $83,340 ​for the delivery of adventurous journeys under the award program.

Staff support funding:
Funds are allocated from a budget of $100,000 for staff support at the rate of two hours per week for 20 weeks of Teacher Relief Scheme (or equivalent).

How to apply

Subsided adventurous journeys:
The EEC centres listed above will report directly to Statewide Operations on the progress of their current program targets. When close to finishing the program, Statewide Operations will discuss the potential to continue the program and allocate funding for that purpose. There is no need for an application to be submitted to receive the funding.

Staff support funding:
State Schools apply on invitation from the Queensland Award Operating Authority for limited funding through an Expression of Interest (with Principal support).

Applications will be assessed based on the school's ability to demonstrate how they intend to grow the reach and impact of the Award within their school through the identification of target registrations and completions.​​
