Allocation of funds

Funding allocations are based on student visits and calculated as follows:

  • Base + per visitation rate x number of weighted visitations + Base 2.

Where:

  • Base is determined as follows
    • residential—environmental education centres (EECs) that cater for day and night visits
    • residential—outdoor education centres (OECs) that cater for day and night visits
    • non-residential—EECs that cater for day visits only.
  • Weighted visitations are determined as follows
    • day visitations are weighted by 1 (e.g. 40 student days = 40)
    • night visitations are weighted by 2 (e.g. 80 student nights = 160).

Site specific

The total annual budget for distribution is $74,000. Eligible centres receive a fixed amount each year.

During 2019, the Chair of the Outdoor and Environmental Education Centres Principal Alliance (OEECPA) and the department discussed a review of the site specific—outdoor and environmental education centres school appropriation funding. A proposal was developed outlining the new application and selection for this program.

Schools that were successful with their applications and will receive funding in 2024 and 2025 are the following: Konomie Island EEC, Moreton Bay EEC, Jacobs Well EEC, Sunshine Coast EEC, Barambah EEC and Tinaroo EEC.

RNA Showcamp: Fixed allocation of $9,500.
