Pool chemical and cleaning appropriations

To assist schools to undertake appropriate operation and management of swimming pools.

Base x School Grant Index

Annual base rates are as follows:

Less than 201m² $2,200
201–305m² $2,500
Greater than 305m² $2,900

Cleaning

Base + cleaning rate x pool area (m²)

Semester rates are as follows:

Base $500
Per square metre​ of pool size $3.40

Formula​​ ​exceptions

There are a small number of exceptions to the formula to account for arrangements at individual schools. For example, some schools have an agreement with the local council for the council to undertake pool care.

Payment details

An additional one-off payment of $442,000 will be made to eligible schools and will be distributed based on their semester 1 2024 entitlements, utilis​ing proportional allocation. This payment will occur in line with the February monthly payment.

How to apply

Schools do not need to apply for this funding. Entitlements will be calculated and paid automatically each year by Finance Branch.
