Purpose

To assist Positive Learning Centres to support students of compulsory school age, enrolled in a state school, who at a given point in time require behaviour support beyond the capacity of a conventional classroom.

The aim is to reintegrate students into mainstream schooling or into more appropriate learning or vocational pathways.

Regions autonomously determine the operating model of each Positive Learning Centre, including the education program and referral/selection procedures. Operating model and focus is determined in consultation with a reference or management group comprising regional office representatives, senior guidance officers and school-based personnel (typically a principal).
