Rural and Remote Teacher Experience Program

Purpose

To provide TRS payments to urban state schools who support a teacher participating in the Rural and Remote Teacher Experience Program.

The Rural and Remote Teacher Experience Program gives current urban state school teachers the opportunity to live and work in a rural or remote community for a week. The program showcases the benefits of teaching in a rural or remote location, whilst promoting career opportunities.

Duration of program

2017/18 to 2020/21

Eligibility

State schools with teachers undertaking a rural and remote teacher experience.

Allocation of funds

Funding is provided to urban state schools who have teachers undertaking an experience, based on the Teacher Relief Scheme (TRS) rate multiplied by the number of days the participant is absent from their urban school.

Recoupment policy

Payments may be recouped back from schools if the program participant withdraws or has to return to their base school, thereby not completing the full experience.

How to apply

Schools do not need to apply for this funding. Entitlements are automatically paid to eligible schools.
