Purpose
To assist Queensland state schools by supporting projects to embed sustainability across the school facilities and curriculum, while saving resources and money for the school.

Ongoing from 2022
Eligibility
All Queensland State schools including special schools, environmental and outdoor education centres.
Allocation of funds
Successful schools and centres will receive an approved allocation after all applications have been reviewed and assessed by the assessment panel. Schools will be assessed as per the criteria in the sustainability appropriation guidelines.
The assessment panel is a decision-making working group with representatives from Utilities and Sustainability, Facilities Management Services and a state school or education centre principal.

Recoupment policy
Recoupment of part or all of the sustainability appropriation funding by the department will be considered where:
- there is a genuine error in the original payment, for example, an incorrect calculation or the incorrect school is paid
- the school or centre is unable to fulfil the outcomes of the project as outlined in the funding application proposal.
How to apply
Applicants must provide a completed application form and supporting documentation to Sustainability.Facilities@qed.qld.gov.au by the due date specified in sustainability appropriations guidelines (departmental staff search 'sustainability appropriations guidelines' in OnePortal). Late applications will not be accepted.
