Certificate III Cleaning Operations

Purpose

The Certificate III Cleaning Operations program is a face-to-face/online professional development opportunity designed to upskill the department's cleaning staff.

A commitment to providing the opportunity for eligible cleaners to complete this qualification is part of the latest Enterprise Bargaining (EB) agreement and is valid for the lifetime of the Department of Education Cleaners' Certified Agreement 2022 (PDF, 646KB).

The program has been co-designed with TAFE Queensland to help school cleaners:

  • follow improved and effective cleaning practices
  • learn skills in basic computer literacy and first aid
  • formalise their experience and skills with a nationally recognised Certificate III qualification
  • meet eligibility requirements of a qualification allowance of $25.00 per fortnight.

Duration of program

Current to 30 June 2028

Eligibility

State schools with eligible cleaners.

Allocation of funds

Replacement funding is for workshop time and payments will be calculated based on the current casual cleaning rate (as per the salary schedule) times scheduled workshop hours up to a maximum of 38 hours to enable eligible cleaners to attend the training.

Replacement funding will be reconciled with course attendance records and automatically processed by the Education Futures Institute through the School Appropriation and Payment Application (SAPA) payment process upon a cleaner's successful completion of the program.

How to apply

Once cleaners have completed the program, the department will automatically process replacement funding to cover the scheduled wor​kshop hours in line with workshop attendance records.
