Purpose
The Go for Gold Fund Round 2 is a strategy to provide the equipment and infrastructure needed to identified schools to improve sports performance in preparation for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Queensland Government has committed $93 million to build and upgrade school sport infrastructure aimed at increasing student activity and participation in sport across all Queensland schools.
Round 2 funding totalling $93 million for individual schools with an identified need for new or upgraded school sports infrastructure.
Duration of program
2026—projects to be completed by December 2026.
Eligibility
State schools:
- where the school applied for the Go for Gold Round 2 funding for a project that met the program objectives as announced in the Queensland 2022/23 budget.
Non-state schools:
- where the school applied for the Go for Gold Round 2 funding for a project that met the program objectives as announced in the Queensland 2022/23 budget.
Expenditure guidelines
Schools should follow the processes set out in the
Go for Gold Fund Round 2 guidelines (PDF, 1MB).
Go for Gold Fund Round 2 funds are provided as revenue through OneSchool cost centre 1170 and must be expended under expenditure OneSchool cost centre 2083.
Allocation of funds
Funding was provided based on the application and selection process overseen by the Queensland Department of Education.
State schools:
- Funds under $100,000 will be made to eligible state schools via the School Appropriation Payment Application (SAPA) payment system.
- For funding over $100,000, projects may be managed through the regional infrastructure manager, with appropriate approvals through the Infrastructure Portfolio Change Sub-Committee (IPCSC), Queensland Department of Education.
Non-state schools:
- Instalment payments are made to the appropriate Block Grant Authority as project milestones are reached, in accordance with the funding agreement. Payments are made only after acceptance of the monthly progress reports.

Recoupment policy
For state schools, recoupments of appropriations may be undertaken where funded activities or projects are cancelled, can no longer be delivered by the school or project scope changes no longer align with program objectives.
