To provide Queensland rural and remote state schools in Centres for Learning and Wellbeing catchment areas with access to a range of high quality professional learning opportunities and wellbeing support.

Rural and remote state schools in Centre for Learning and Wellbeing catchments.

Allocation of funds

The Centre for Learning and Wellbeing budget is $31.1 million over 4 years and is supplemented by the Remote Ready Project, $0.72 million over 4 years.

There have been 4 rural and remote Centres for Learning and Wellbeing established to provide valuable professional learning and capability development for teachers and school leaders at all stages of their careers. The centres also support the wellbeing of staff and assist in the facilitation of inter-agency support for students and their families.

The centres are located in Atherton, Mount Isa, Emerald and Roma.

Payments made to schools under this program are based on actual costs associated with the program and may include:

  • travel costs
  • accommodation and allowances to enable teachers and school leaders from catchment schools to participate in professional learning
  • staff relief to allow teachers and school leaders to undertake or facilitate mentoring and coaching
  • venue hire and catering for workshops held on school sites
  • building hire and maintenance where a Centre for Learning and Wellbeing training centre is on a school site.

Payment details

Eligible schools will receive payment in the next scheduled monthly payment run following approval of their application.

How to apply

Schools will need to contact the Lead Principal of their Centre for Learning and Wellbeing to apply for a payment. Requests need to be supported by evidence of expenditure by the school.
