There are no record-keeping or reporting requirements for Category 1 animal use activities. Animals in this category should not be included in the animal use statistics report.

Schools must keep records relating to their use of animals for scientific purposes for 7 years for audit purposes. A comprehensive list of record, correspondence and report requirements is provided by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) at recordkeeping for investigators and teachers.

A school based animal activity register is provided by the Queensland Schools Animal Ethics Committee (QSAEC) as a guide for schools. All applications, activity notifications, responses from QSAEC and reports should be stored with this register and be available on request by animal welfare investigators and QSAEC site inspectors.
