Getting started for students with vision impairment

Students with vision impairment may require specific teaching strategies such as auditory learning materials, descriptive language and specialised equipment such as braille machines, technology to access their work and dark pencils and dark lined paper. Below are some strategies you can use for teaching and working with your student who has vision impairment.

Initial queries regarding learning at home to be directed through your school contact, they can then link you to regional and state services.

Contact your student’s teacher or Advisory Visiting Teacher (AVT)

Your student’s teacher or AVT—Vision Impairment can assist you to make specific adjustments and implement strategies that will support your student to continue accessing and completing their school work from home.
