Program overview
The flagship Teacher Aide program invests in the professional expertise and vital support teacher aides deliver in our classrooms.
Experienced teacher aides will engage in high-quality, tailored professional learning in key areas, including student support, classroom management practices and inclusive education for students with diverse needs.
Target audience
Experienced teacher aides working in their role in Queensland state schools.
Objectives
The program is designed to build capability, strengthen classroom practice and promote wellbeing by:
- enhancing teacher aides' knowledge, skills and confidence in providing evidence-based, effective educational support
- providing tailored professional learning to address their unique needs, and give them the opportunity to enhance their qualifications and career pathway options
- promoting a culture of professional collaboration and wellbeing so they can thrive in Queensland state schools.
Structure
The program offers teacher aides:
- a 2-day residential professional learning experience
- facilitated virtual learning masterclasses and workshops
- opportunities for ongoing learning, and micro-credentialing toward a Certificate IV in School Based Education Support
- regional collaboration, including shared learnings
- professional learning to build mentoring skills and share knowledge with school peers
- post-program professional development and networking opportunities.
Duration
The program will take 12 months to complete.
