​​The Education Futures Institute (EFI) empowers educators, departmental staff, school and system leaders to build their professional expertise and wellbeing by engaging in high-quality, targeted capability development at key career stages.

A thriving and capable workforce helps our young people to realise their potential. The Equity and Excellence education strategy outlines how the department inspires a workforce culture of professional excellence and sustained improvement.

The EFI empowers a thriving workforce through:

  • flagship programs at key career junctures
  • professional standards-based, high-quality capability development
  • innovative partnerships with leading academic, education and industry partners
  • targeted coaching and capability development to leverage professional expertise and school improvement
  • providing more accessible, contemporary professional learning for staff.

The EFI has a statewide footprint with 12 regional locations to provide support across the state.

Available learning opportunities

The EFI catalogue shows all the courses, programs and other learning opportunities the Institute provides.

These include:

  • Mandatory training
    Programs that staff are required to undertake to understand the responsibilities of their role.
  • Educational leadership and flagship programs
    Programs designed for school leaders at key career stages, including aspiring principals through to experienced principals.
  • Teaching expertise
    Programs to empower educators to build professional expertise across their teaching career through high-quality, targeted development opportunities.
  • School support and corporate capability
    Programs that provide capability offerings specific to non-teaching school support and corporate staff.
  • Health and wellbeing
    Programs to support the health and wellbeing of staff.

We are progressively adding new programs to our catalogue. Staff are encouraged to search the EFI catalogue on OnePortal regularly to see what's on offer.
