The Educatiom Futures Institute (EFI) is committed to providing effective system support to Queensland state schools through professional learning tailored to departmental roles, working with staff across the state to improve student outcomes.

Collaborative Learning Communities

The EFI empowers our system and school leaders to foster statewide collaboration between Queensland schools to deliver sustainable improvements. Statewide and regional Collaborative Learning Communities (CLCs) provide evidence-informed forums for education leaders to connect around key performance focus areas linked to the department's education strategy.

Participants gain strategic connections across schools and regions to support collective expertise and accountability through a structured platform. These platforms offer supportive environments to share insights and engage in professional development to help schools lead improvement aligned with their strategic plan and annual implementation plan.

Differentiated support

School Improvement Coaches provide targeted school improvement coaching for school leaders to improve school performance and lift student outcomes. They support principals through coaching to build their own capability, so they can lead effectively.

School Business Coaches provide targeted coaching and capability building for school leaders, business managers and staff to effectively manage their finance, human resources, facilities, procurement, information technology and other school operations.

Senior Education Officers—Capability (SEOCs) collaborate with schools across the state to build educator capability through targeted professional learning aligned to departmental priorities, the Australian Curriculum, and the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) senior syllabus. SEOCs support school improvement by promoting evidence-based teaching, differentiation and approaches that maximise student educational outcomes.

Senior Education Officers—Mentoring (SEOMs) work across regions to strengthen the mentoring capability of school-based mentors and leaders of early career teachers including pre-service teachers with permission to teach. SEOMs provide guidance, direct support and capability development to help school leaders and school-based mentors provide clear and consistent induction programs for early career teachers.
