Opportunity overview
Queensland state (college or academy) schools have the opportunity to host 2 Chinese (Mandarin) speaking teaching assistants over the course of 2 school-terms in 2025.
The Taiwanese teaching assistants who are currently undertaking a Master’s program in Taiwan, will join your language department and provide ongoing teaching support, as well as provide opportunities to accelerate students’ Chinese language learning and cultural understandings.

Program details
Open to Queensland state schools that:
- have a Chinese (Mandarin) language program
- wish to improve Chinese (Mandarin) language learning in their school
- have the ability to source homestay placement for 2 teacher assistants
- are located in the Metropolitan North, Metropolitan South, North Coast or South East reporting region.
Program inclusions
- 2 term school placement
- Funding for homestay placement, homestay accommodation and most meals
- Funding for visa and blue card application
- Department of Education International program support
Key dates
Application period: Expressions of interest are now open and will close
5pm Friday 23 August 2024.
Travel period: February to August 2025 (final dates to be confirmed).
