Online Japanese Language Immersion
Global Opportunities within DE International (DEi), in partnership with Osaka Promotion Bureau and Japan Foundation Japanese Language Institute Kansai, is offering an online language immersion program. The program will be held in the first week of the Queensland summer school holidays from 13 to 17 December 2021. It is offered to for Queensland state school teachers of Japanese language or teachers interested in improving their Japanese language skills.
This professional development course delivered over 5 days aims to improve Japanese language proficiency and deepen understanding of Japanese culture to support delivery of the curriculum to Queensland students in Prep to Year 12.
Course dates: 13–17 December 2021
Session times: Participants will be required to attend one 90-minute (1.5 hour) online session per day.
- Morning session: 10.30am–12.00pm (Qld time)
- Afternoon session: 3.00–4.30pm (Qld time)
Additional sessions: All participants will also be required to attend the following 2 sessions / activities:
- One 90-minute orientation session – Wednesday 1 December 2021, 3.30–4.30pm (TBC)
- One 60-minute Japanese home-visit (online session with Japanese students and parents) – date TBC (on one afternoon during the program).
Delivery mode and technical requirements: Online delivery. Participants will need access to a reliable internet connection, computer, headphones, a webcam and be able to connect via Zoom.
Language proficiency: Teachers with basic to intermediate Japanese language proficiency or at least
Level N4 or higher in the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). Upon application, teachers will be required to complete the self-assessment form.
Cost: DEi will fully fund the course costs for Queensland state school teachers.

TGR Foundation Virtual STEM Studio
Virtual STEM Studio is a unique online professional development program, fully-funded by Global Opportunities DEi, for Queensland state school teachers incorporate inquiry into their teaching practice.
Delivered by international partners, TGR Foundation, a Tiger Woods charity, this professional development program will:
- focus on the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in the classroom
- entail a three half-day online program presented via Zoom
- engage in hands-on activities that promote inquiry-based learning
- make connections and collaborate with teachers.
Course
dates: Global Opportunities will be supporting two Virtual STEM Studio programs in 2022.
- 6-8 July 2022 (school holidays)
- 27, 28 and 30 September 2022 (school holidays)
Delivery mode and technical requirements: Online delivery. Participants will need access to a reliable internet connection, computer, headphones, a webcam and be able to connect via Zoom.
Online Sessions: Participants are expected to attend online sessions commencing at 9.00am and concluding at 1.30pm each day for 3 days.
Cost: The course is fully funded by Global Opportunities, DE International for Queensland state school teachers.
