Since 2008, Queensland schools have been participating in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program.

The aim of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program is to introduce pleasurable food education which emphasises the flavours as well as the health benefits of fresh, seasonal food into as many Australian primary schools as possible.

Schools have flexibility in how they deliver the Kitchen Garden program and can choose:

  •  a specialist-delivered model where kitchen and garden classes are delivered by a kitchen specialist and garden specialist, in the presence of a classroom teacher
or
  •  a teacher-delivered model where kitchen and garden classes are delivered by a classroom teacher who has completed the Kitchen Garden Program short training course offered by Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, supported by a structured syllabus
or
  •  a hybrid model where one Specialist is employed, but the other position is allocated from within the school staff.

For further information and to apply to join the program please visit the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation website.
