Effective planning, reviewing, monitoring and reporting in all Queensland state schools helps ensure that our shared vision of every student realising their potential is achieved.

Schools use data to make positive, evidence-informed decisions around student learning, wellbeing and engagement and to support school improvement. The data literacy framework provides guidance for teachers and school leaders on using data to support school improvement and learning and wellbeing for all students.

Policies, procedures, guidelines and resources

Schools plan for, monitor, review and report on responses to locally determined student and school needs aligned to the department’s strategic direction.

The school performance policy sets out the Department of Education’s (the department) commitment to advancing student learning and wellbeing through continuous evaluation and improvement of school performance. The policy provides direction for schools about the requirements for school performance planning, monitoring, reviewing and reporting.

The school performance procedure sets out the roles, responsibilities and processes for evaluating and improving school performance and includes a schedule of annual required actions, as well as additional actions prior to, during and post departmental school reviews and audits.

Visit the Policy and Procedure Register to access step-by-step processes to meet mandatory requirements and understand the responsibilities of individuals and teams.
