World Class Education—Musical Instruments

​Purpose

To assist schools with accessing additional musical instruments either by direct school purchase or regionally managed loan programs.

Duration of program

2018-2019 to 2020-2021 (3 year program).

Eligibility

State schools

Allocation of funds

Program budget of $1,000,000 over 3 years, will be divided between regions based on the number of students that are eligible to enter the instrumental music program.

Metropolitan region

  • No funds are distributed to schools. The program is run by the region and instruments will be loaned to schools.

South East region

  • No funds are distributed to schools. The program is run by the region and instruments will be loaned to schools.

Darling Downs South West region

  • No funds are distributed to schools. The program is run by the region and instruments will be loaned to schools.

North Coast region

  • No funds are distributed to schools. The program is run by the region and instruments will be loaned to schools.

Central Queensland region

  • Funds are distributed to the host school of each cluster based on the percentage of total enrolments for the region.
  • A minimum base payment will be made to the clusters with less than 5% of the enrolments.
  • Funds are to be used by the cluster to purchase new instruments, as required. Funds are not to be used for the maintenance of existing instruments.
  • Payments for 2020-21 financial year will be November 2020 (50%) and February 2021 (50%).

North Queensland region

  • Schools or cluster of schools can apply for an allocation that is considered by a regional panel consisting of a principal representative, music specialists and regional staff.
  • Payments for the 2019-20 financial year will be March 2020 (100%).

Far North Queensland region

  • Schools or cluster of schools can apply for an allocation that is considered by a regional panel consisting of a principal representative, music specialists and regional staff.
  • Payments for the 2019-20 financial year will be March 2020 (100%).

Data requirements

Regional allocations are based on the number of student enrolments in OneSchool for Years 3–12 as of February 2018.

How to apply

Where instrumental loan programs are managed by the region, schools are not able to apply for funding.

Central Queensland region schools do not need to apply for funding. Cluster host schools will automatically receive payments to manage cluster programs.

North and Far North Queensland region schools will need to contact their regional office to submit an application. Applications can be submitted to the Director State Schools with their regional office.
