Youth Justice Literacy and Numeracy program

Purpose

To assist schools to support young people in the Youth Justice system, which is aimed to improve literacy and numeracy skills and personal and social capabilities.

Assistance provided through the program supports the academic, social and emotional needs of students from a teacher and mentors.

Duration of program

2021

Eligibility

Identified state schools in Far North Queensland region.

Allocation of funds

Total budget for the program in 2021 is $37,936.

Schools funded have been selected according to need and ability to provide literacy and numeracy staff to support Youth Justice clients.

Identified schools will receive funding for mentor wages and some operational costs.

Some funding will be used by regional office to provide professional development and other operational costs.

How to apply

Schools do not need to apply for this finding. The Regional office in Far North Queensland will identify the schools that have the capability to meet the program deliverables.
